UAAP: Teng sinks clutch freethrows to lead La Salle to victory against UST

Jeron Teng had 26 points, including clutch freethrows and a steal in the end game to lead the DLSU Green Archers past the UST Growling Tigers on Saturday at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.



Arnold Van Opstal added 11 points for the archers, while Kib Montalbo had eight. Norbert Torres and Julian Sargent had seven a piece.



The Tigers approached the final two and a half minutes with a two-point lead after a pair of Karim Abdul charities. Arnold Van Opstal quickly countered with his own basket at the other end, while Teng strung three freethrows on two trips to the line, 63-60.



With 16 seconds left, Aljon Mariano committed a turnover, leading to another trip from the line for Teng. He missed both, but La Salle kept possession. Reggie Basibas fouled Teng anew, and this time, he made both to put the game away with 12.5 remaining.



Ed Daquioag led UST with 19 points, while Kent Lao had 14. Karim Abdul struggled from the field going 2 out of 12, but made up for it with nine charities and 14 rebounds. - GMA News
