The Ateneo Blue Eagles brushed off a physical Adamson squad for a 67-52 win on Saturday at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.

The two teams struggled in the opening period, as the Eagles found themselves up 7-2 halfway. After a Matt Aquino Jumper, the Eagles scored the final four points to establish a six-point lead, 10-4.

Jansen Rios and Ivan Vilalnueva tried to keep Adamson in it in the second, before a five-point swing gave Ateneo a 10-point lead, 20-10. Don Trollano and Jansen RIos closed out the half with six points, though, countering a Kiefer Ravena trey. After two, Ateneo was still ahead, 23-16.

The Eagles tries to pull away at the start of the third, as an 8-0 blast stretched the lead, 31-19. An Aquino make and a pair of treys from the Falcons trimmed the lead to four, but it was the last time the Falcons connected on a fieldgoal. Ateneo finished the period with a 10-4 run for a 41-31 lead after three.

After four points from Adamson to open up the fourth, the Eagles went on a 15-0 run for a 21-point lead, 56-35. Trollano and Ryan Monteclaro tried to spark an Adamson comeback, but ended up trading baskets until the final buzzer. - GMA News
