Pinoy passport applicants in Malaysia can check status online

Filipinos who applied for a new passport or a passport renewal in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia can now check their application status online, according to the Philippine Embassy.

"Using the Passport Application Number provided by the encoders towards the end of the passport processing, the applicant can check the status of his passport by entering the application number in the space provided and clicking submit," it said.

The embassy said the page will display the applicant’s full name, application number and passport status. However, it said the system is presently available for those who applied for passports at the chancery in Kuala Lumpur.

Those who applied at the Embassy’s consular mission in Sabah may call the trunkline at +603 2148 4233 extension 103 or email two months after applying for a passport.

The embassy also noted that it may take two to three months before passports from Manila arrive in Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, the embassy said the application list is updated every time a new batch of passports is received from Manila. —Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
